The Impact of COVID-19

We are soliciting manuscripts for inclusion in a special issue of General Hospital Psychiatry titled, “The impact of COVID-19 Three Years Out: Neurobiology, psychiatric sequelae, and public health consequences of the pandemic.”

Special issue information:

We welcome conceptual or empirical manuscripts with a US domestic or international focus on the topic. This can include review articles, full original research reports, brief communications, editorials, and letters to the editor, in keeping with the usual article types for General Hospital Psychiatry.

Manuscript submission information:

We welcome articles on all aspects of the impact of COVID-19. Some specific areas of focus of this special issue, related to the psychosocial, public health and neurobiological impact of COVID-19 and the pandemic, are as follows:

  • Psychiatric sequelae of COVID-19 infection, including “long COVID”
  • The impact of the pandemic on healthcare, healthcare workers and hospitals
  • Neurobiological effects of COVID-19
  • Psychosocial and psychological aspects of COVID-19 on public health
  • Vaccination-related impacts related to COVID-19

Findings from epidemiological and clinical studies, as well as clinical trials, are welcome.

General Hospital Psychiatry is an Elsevier Journal (PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, PsycINFO-indexed, Impact Factor 7.6) that focuses on linkages between psychiatry, psychology, primary care, and/or acute medical illness.

Authors are invited to submit a full manuscript, due January 15, 2023 (an optional letter of intent can be submitted by December 15, 2022). We anticipate that the special issue will be published in summer 2023.
